 Activities at a glance

HWA has been in the forefront in the fight against Covid-19 in Bengaluru ,ever since its outbreak.

Our 24×7 Emergency Response and Helpline Task Force comprise of a dedicated team of 130+ volunteers working on ground and backend for Covid related requests and queries from the public. Elderly support, medicines arrangement, travel guidance for emergency cases and food kits and groceries distribution are covered. The backend team provides verified information and assistance in hospital bed booking and acquirement. Assistance with online doctor consultation, general counselling, mental health support and providing home-cooked meals for those in isolation is also ensured.

HWA, as part of Mercy Mission, has worked towards capability building at HBS hospital- a charity hospital to help financially backward patients. HBS has been converted to a complete COVID care hospital. HWA has supported HBS Hospital in procuring CT scan machine through fundraising. The CT Scans are currently done at 40% of the market cost for the poor. Adequate support for converting Al Ameen Hospital as a 40-bed COVID care hospital has been provided. Our volunteers also serve as non medical staffs and assist in operations at Al Ameen Hospital .

We have organized Vaccination awareness campaigns and conducted  Vaccination Drive Camps in association with BBMP , one at Masjid-ur-Rahma and another at Shanti Nagar. Oxygen centers are set up at Mahadevapura and near Coles Park. Ration kits have been distributed to 700 families during lockdown.  HWA volunteers supports in giving dignified departure to the deceased souls along with the Mercy Angels volunteers. Food distribution drives were run at crematoriums where there was no food or water available nearby.

Realizing the acute shortage of ambulances to reach hospitals causing unwarranted casualties, HWA have decided to purchase an ambulance with basic life support and essential medical equipment.

Covid relief at Udhbav Project

As part of covid relief activities, HWA distributed food supplies at Sevanagar, Udhbav project.

Vaccination Drive -II

The 2nd vaccination drive of HWA was conducted on 16th May at BBMP PHC,shantinagar.  63 people had registered for Vaccination. 1st dose vaccination was given to 20 persons.  Due to the  84 days time period implemented lately for 2nd dose, 2nd dose could not be given. Next vaccination drive will be conducted as soon as stocks are available from government.

Food Distribution at Crematoriums

HWA volunteers distributed snacks and drinks at crematoriums ,where no food or water was available nearby. 

Cremation & Burial Support

HWA volunteers have been assisting in cremation and burial of covid affected , as part of Mercy mission volunteers ,aka “mercy angels” .

Ration Distribution

HWA has undertaken ration distribution at various regions to support the families affected in the pandemic.

Vaccination Drive-I at Masjid

HWA have conducted vaccination drive in association with BBMP at Masjid-ur-Rahmah at Coles park. Around 50 people took part in the drive.
