Kerala Flood Rescue & Relief Activities

Kerala witnessed its deadliest flood of the century in August 2018, with death toll risen to 400+. Foreseeing the urgent need of the hour, HWA formed an Emergency Response Team (ERT) for its rescue and relief operations. Initailly, HWA started with the mission “Save Wayanad” with the prime focus on Wayanad regions which was severely affected by landslides and had got isolated . HWA then extended its rescue and relief activities across Kerala with the mission “Save Kerala” as the situation worsened throughout the state. HWA along with IRW, its Kerala partner in relief works, took part in rescue and relief activities with full-fledge and momentum. With timely and proactive relief materials collection and distribution (9 consignments of relief materials collected and distributed), providing lifesaving boats and life jackets , rescuing many stranded people ,aiding in the rehabilitation of the affected , just to list a few ,HWA played a very vital role in the Flood Rescue & Relief Activities and Disaster Management in a very professional way. As water receded, HWA started its most challenging mission “Rebuild Kerala” with a vision to bring back the state to normal life and restore the economy. The remarkable ,immense and ongoing support of the volunteers on the ground and the kind hearted donors who poured in their love and support wholeheartedly  is noteworthy.
